First post of the year!  Hello!

Hope your year is starting off well and you’re getting back into the swing of things.  I know it took me until this week to feel back into our normal routine, and I’ve missed it!  I definitely thrive off of productivity and normalcy in my schedule.

Well, I thought I’d start 2019 off with a list of a few more favs!  This is something I want to try and be consistent at throughout this year so here we go…

1. A to-done list

True to what I previously said, I thrive on productivity.  However, every day gets so busy with so many things that often I don’t always get to actual items on my to-do list.  I was finding myself constantly frustrated by having a huge to-do list and not checking anything off.  So I started make a ‘to-done’ list.  When I accomplish something (even if it’s something small), I put it on my to-done list on my phone.  First thing in the morning I usually have a quiet time…it goes on the list.  If I cleaned the floors, on the list.  Took out trash, on the list.  Worked out…you get the picture.  This has helped me feel so much more productive because at the end of the day when I focus on the things I didn’t get done, I can look at my to-done list and think, ‘oh yeah, I actually got a lot of stuff done today’.  I mean, I even put if I showered on my list…you fellow mamas know that’s a big deal haha.  It’s helped me maintain positivity on the days that didn’t quite go the way I planned.

2. Plan to Eat

Simple Meal Planning - Plan to Eat

I know you’ve heard me talk about this before, but I seriously can’t stop talking about it.  This program has helped me SO much.  It’s so easy to plan meals and get a grocery list going, I even did it in the car yesterday (didn’t plan on grocery shopping, but was out and about and wanted to get it done before the snow moved in today) in about 7 minutes.  You just enter your recipes in or use the browser button to input online recipes, drag and drop the recipe you want to what day and meal time, then voila, your shopping list is made.  AND you can try it today for FREE for 30 days!  Just head here to check it out!

3. Roasting vegetables

This concept isn’t new to me, but I’ve definitely kicked it up a notch the past few months and recently this is a top fav because it’s so easy to prep, easy to cook, and roasted veggies are always Hubby and toddler approved (which is a big deal, because they’re both picky).  Recently we’ve done roasted butternut squash (a personal fav), brussel sprouts, green beans, tomatoes, and red potatoes.  My go-to ingredients are olive oil, balsamic vinegar, garlic powder, salt and pepper.  Toss everything together and roast until nice and crispy.  Seriously, the best.

4. Running again

throwback to 2015 post race in San Diego with hubs…and yes, I had brown hair

As you may know, I used to run all.the.time.  It was basically the only form of exercise I did.  I loved it.  But it wore my body down and as I’m overcoming hypothalamic amenorrhea  (read about that here), I needed to take a break.  I’ve been slowly incorporating it again (we’re talking 20-30 min runs) and it feels so good.  I’m definitely slower, taking lots of walking breaks, and much more out of breath, but with all the strength building I’ve done over the past few months, I’m not as sore afterwards and I feel stronger when going up hills.  It feels great to move my body in that way again and I can’t wait to slowly start to build mileage.

What are some of your favorite things lately?!
